Hey everybody Smile here again back with another metal show review. This time my journey brought me back to Black Circle. Black Circle is located off of 46th and Keystone. They have a nice free parking lot and a big outdoor seating area for between sets and merch booth overflow. The inside of Black Circle is small yet effective. The nice thing is this venue while it has a bar it also hosts all ages shows and in good weather outside events as well.

Tonight The Congregation Presents: Zao, Balmora, Girl of Glass, and GODSEYES. This hardcore show is all ages and boy did they pack it in here. Standing room only and we were packed in like sweaty sardines.
First up was GODSEYES. They brought the chaos all the way from New York. Shed Your Wound, And Fear, and Of Favor were some of the songs I thought were really good out of their set.

Next up was Girl of Glass. These guys were a Deathcore group bringing that 2008 shit. An Introduction to Bloody Knuckles & Broken Hearts, Heart Upon Stone, Third Knife’s the Charm, Son Devouring His Saturn, and Disengage were absolutely killer songs from their set.

Next Balmora took the stage. Balmora is a hardcore group out of Connecticut. An Angel’s Final Prayer, Under the Weight of a Blackened Sky
Blighted to Pine were some of the standout songs of their set. They brought the pit to life with some crazy ass slam dancing.

The headliner Zao was up next. I can remember seeing Zao the first time back in the late 90’s. They played The Emerson Theatre (God rest it’s soul) with Burn It Down. It was a running joke that you couldn’t have a metal show in Indy without having Burn It Down open for it. I was absolutely blown away by Zao as a kid for 2 reasons; A) They brought it hard, and B) They were unbeknownst to me a Christian Metal group. With that being said ZAO is the first metalcore band with roots in the Christian music scene to enjoy the fruits of a credible and respected position in mainstream hardcore and metal music. They have 16 albums and of those “Liberate Te Ex Inferis” is my favorite album. This time they brought a 12 song set that tore down Black Circle. If These Scars Could Speak, The Final Ghost, Savannah, Praise the War Machine, and To Think of You Is to Treasure an Absent Memory were some of the top songs. After the show I was lucky enough to catch a picture with Zao’s vocalist.

All in all this was another great show at Black Circle. All the bands did a great job with their sets. The bar staff handled their business and special shout out to Thomas with security keeping everyone safe all evening. If you haven’t checked out an event here at Black Circle what are you waiting for?!? Take a look at their up coming events and go! Also make sure to check back in here at Graveyardradio.net for more of our great event reviews. Until next time folks, Keep Smiling!
