Hey everyone! Smile back again to share another show with you. Tonight my adventure takes me back to The HI-FI. The HI-FI is located 1043 Virginia Ave, Suite 4 Indianapolis, IN 46203. The venue holds about 400 people and is smack dab in the center of Fountain Square. Parking in this area is extremely tricky normally, and with the Fountain Square construction that is going on its absolutely horrible. I park way down the street from the venue and take the 3 or 4 block hike in. Tonight MOKB presents Dying Wish with support from Contention, Holder, Guilt Trip
The first band of the night was Contention. They are a Hardcore Band from Tampa Florida that was formed in 2019. They got the crowd warmed up with their 10 song set that remined me a lot of one of my favorite local band from back in the day Burn It Down.
Up next was Holder. By now The Hi-Fi was starting to pack in. Holder is a Screamo Hardcore Band from Massachusetts that was formed in 2024. They played an 8 song set. The song The First Cut is the Deepest was my favorite song from their set. I was able to catch the vocalist after their set.
After Holder’s set was done it was time for the next band. Around the same time the venue announced that the show was officially SOLD OUT!! Guilt Trip was the next band to grace the stage. Guilt Trip is a Hardcore Metalcore Crossover from Manchester UK. I honestly had never heard of them before but once they started to play I really liked them. In my opinion I thought they sounded like a Hatebreed x Rage Against the Machine mash up. They played a 12 song set; Tearing Your Life Away and One By One were stand out songs. I was able to catch the vocalist after their set. He was super nice and very appreciative of the feedback!
Finally it was time for Dying Wish. The Hi-Fi was packed in like sardines and was getting hot fast. Dying Wish had no plan on letting things cool down. Dying Wish is a Hardcore/Metalcore quintet from Portland, OR formed in 2010. They have 4 studio albums under their belts and bring it hard. The lead vocalist kind of reminded me of a Metalcore Amy Lee. They played a 13 song set and tore down the Hi-Fi with brutal pits and breakdowns. My favorite song of their set was I’ll Know You Are Not Around.
All in all I had a good time at this show. It was great to see a sell out crowd on a Sunday evening!
