Hey everyone! Smile back again with another concert review. Tonight my journey takes me to The Old National Center. It is located in the heart of downtown at 502 N New Jersey St, Indianapolis, IN 46204. There are plenty of surface lots and other parking available with in a reasonable walking distance. Old National has numerous food and drink options available as well. Tonight they are hosting Puscifer The Normal Isn’t Tour with special guest Dave Hill.
As Braden and myself were entering the venue there was a religious group out front loudly protesting Maynard James Kegan. They said that Maynard is a devil worshiper and that if we go in we will be beheaded and burn in hell for all eternity. What a welcoming experience to start off our evening. I want to preface the rest of this review with a PSA. If you have ever seen TOOL, A Perfect Circle, or Puscifer Maynard keeps a strict NO VIDEO OR PICTURE policy. You cannot take photos or video during the headliner set. You will not be warned and immediately ejected from the venue. I like doing these reviews and I wasn’t going to risk getting kicked out so pictures will be at a minimum for this review.
Dave Hill was up first. Dave Hill is a comedian, writer, musician, actor, radio host. Dave is originally from Cleveland, Ohio but now living in New York City. In my opinion he was like Nick Swardson with a guitar. He played licks from famous songs with stand up bits inbetween. Caveman in a Spaceship, Give Yourselves a Hand, Mother, Dollar Tree, Hopeless Romantic, Pickup Lines That Will Only Work In Indianapolis, Dangerous Snakes, Who Hate Bullshit, I Was in a Fight. The Dollar Tree Slogans and the pickup lines were pretty damn funny.

After Dave Hill got off stage there was a brief break for the stage crew to clear off Dave’s stuff and to finish setting up for Puscifer. When everything was ready the theater went dark. Then on a large screen above the stage a video played. The alien reminded everyone in the theater that there is no PICTURES OR VIDEOS. We had to repeat it back 3 times. Failure to comply we would be vaporized. The security team was swarming and circling the theater the entire time of the performance. I saw Puscifer in 2015 and they were kicking people out left and right. I saw no one removed this evening.
For readers who may not be familiar with Puscifer here is a brief rundown for you. Puscifer is the eclectic solo project of Maynard James Kegan who is also the front man of TOOL and A Perfect Circle. It is an art performance as much as it is a music concert. Puscifer has 5 studio albums. This tour is in direct support of the new album Normal Isn’t. Puscifer doesn’t fit an exact genre. They can be described as experimental rock, alternative rock, art rock, progressive rock, trip-hop, electronic rock, post-industrial. All in all anything Maynard is an experience.
They played an 18 song set with a few breaks for videos and an intermission. They played my two favorite Puscifer songs The Remedy and The Humbling River. During the last song you can take all the pictures and videos you want. The entire time Maynard has huge strobes going off in the background making still pictures pretty difficult to snag. Below is the best one I could snag.

All in all we had a great time. We had great seats and everything sounded great! We even left with our heads in place ! 🙂 Puscifer puts on a great show and I highly recommend that you check them out if you ever get a chance. Also make sure to check back in here at Graveyardradio.net for more of our great event reviews. Until next time folks, Keep Smiling!
