Hello everybody, Spike here! Before I hand the mic over to Annie, let her introduce herself and tell us about the show, I wanted to say a few things. “Frosty’s Revenge” was yet another example of a top class environment to party in, creating intimate sensory experiences with legendary talent. This is the cornerstone of any Aliens on Mushrooms event. I’ve been M.I.A. from Graveyard as of late as I’ve been stepping into my duties at waxradioindy.com. We’d like to thank all the DJs and talent that helped us with “Alien’s on Mushrooms Week” over there leading up to this event. We played mixes and music from headlining and supporting talent in heavy rotation all week and it was a lot of fun. All that said, I am really grateful Annie surprised me after the show and stepped in to tell you about the amazing night everyone in attendance who came out, had. It will be another night I will not forget and and other example of why I love this city. -Spike

Annie The Impaler here, happy to join the crew of Graveyard Radio and write some articles sharing my experiences with events in the area. Just a little about me, I own Crystal Moon Body Arts in Bloomington, Indiana, and I am a body piercer. I am an old skool raver and retired Jungle/DNB/Booty House DJ, that used to spin under the name Vixen Swift. I’m stoked to have a platform to share my photos and be able to talk about one of my favorite things- electronic music.

Aliens on Mushrooms truly brought the holiday vibes to the Canal Pointe venue. This event was as much like a family Christmas Party, as well as a musical event. Santa Claus was in the house, dancing in the crowd and posing for photos. Many people (including my squad, of course), were decked out in Ugly Christmas Sweaters, holiday gear, Santa Hats and other festive attire. The vibes were high and the music kept us dancing all night.

This multi genre event had a bass room upstairs and a house room downstairs. Being able to switch rooms to experience different styles was great. My rave fam all likes different styles of music, so we greatly appreciated having different options and variety.

The downstairs room featured birthday boy, Gettoblaster b2b Harvard Bass, Uriah G, Basura Boyz, DJ Mes and other house talent. The upstairs room featured Danny the Wildchild and Phantom 45, as well as a range of local talent including MTB, DJ Whit and Freshr. Bringing the old skool vibes to the bass room, Danny The Wildchild and Phantom 45 showed that they can still rock a dancefloor.

These two definitely pulled out us “old folks” to relive our glory days. I remember jamming to my “Jungle Book” set of mixtape cassettes of these two back in the day (circa 1997), so I was very excited to see them on a lineup.

These two were some of my top favorites when I first started going to raves, so I was absolutely not going to miss seeing them again. The openers in the bass room really came to throw down. I really loved MTB, who I hadn’t heard before, who dropped one of my other favorite sets of the evening. I’m a basshead, so I spent the majority of my evening upstairs, but I did make the rounds to the house area as well.

Downstairs Uriah G was dropping serious grooves and had the dancefloor packed. Gettoblaster dropping 2 Live Crew, “Me So Horny”, was definitely a vibe. Even though I lost my voice, I was singing along. Canal Pointe is a beautiful venue, and I really look forward to going to more events there. The Upstairs and Downstairs room layout is great, with no sound bleed through between rooms. The venue itself is beautiful and spacious.
Plenty of room to dance and spread out, nice outdoor areas for the smokers, to have a place to cool off, or the perfect area for all the yappers to have long conversations. Next upcoming is the Indy Mojo New Year’s Eve event with G-Rex. Plans are going between the local promoters to have regularly scheduled collaborative events at this spot, and I’m really looking forward to attending more. If you missed out on the Christmas Party, be sure not to miss New Year’s!
