Aldo Ron Sanchez has put a lifetime in electronic music at this point. Touching his first set of turntables in 1990 in his friend’s basement, he quickly became obsessed with dance culture. It took him 3 years of hustling, and he was finally able to aquire his own equipment. I could only imagine early 90’s NYC, and the incredible time Aldo must of had going to raves and sneaking into clubs.
Aldo started producing music in 2005 and studied under Ricardo Hollywood Pagan who was best known for producing Twin Hype’s “Do It To The Crowd”, “Sweet Sensations”, “Sincerely Yours & King Sun”, and “On The Club Tip” just to name a few.

He would form several crews coming up. One of those was called “Truth Sessions”, which helped create & cultivate some prominent New Jersey talent still putting it down today. Later, the “Against the Grain” brand was formed, and was responsible for events that were thrown all over the US and internationally. In recent years, Aldo has moved away from throwing events to not only put the focus on his own music, but to create music with his daughter, which brings him his greatest joy.
This brings me to his latest release, “The Revolution Will Be Live”. The track spans over 6 minutes and has a nice bombastic feel. It also carries an infectious boop that repeats itself through most of the record. The snare claps just fine, and will definitely get the toes tappin’. We also get an incredible backspin on some breaks. I love having a heavy bass kick drum mixed in before cutting out in that bad boy. The meat and potatoes of the tracks comes from the recording of the “The Revolution Will Not Be Televised” speach that was written and performed by Gil Scott-Heron. This was originally recorded in Gil’s 1970 album, “Small Talk at 125th and Lenox”. The speach plays out in it entirety on the A side of the release(Track 1), with the B side being a dubbed version, that just using small snippets of it. This is definitely appropriate content in this current state of the world. Dance music should represent dissent against the status quo. This tune is currently sitting in my playlist I have labeled “Dystopian Techno” and if I ever make a “Heartcraft V”, expect this one to be on there. This track is available currently on all streaming and download platforms.
