ALIENS ON MUSHROOMS & WORLD FAMOUS HOT BOYS CHICKEN ROCK THE BLOCK IN FOUNTAIN SQUARE!

The day started early for Uriah G, as he woke up at 6 A.M. to take the first load of gear over to 1044 Virginia Ave. I woke up at 6 A.M. as well. I needed to help my pop’s install some letting on the side of a truck to make a little cash before what I thought was my 1 P.M. timeslot at the same address. When I Lyfted in at 12:45 P.M., so fresh and so clean, and saw Uriah bringing in the second load of gear, I knew I made a small mistake. I guess my ass would not be in bed by 10 like I was planning. 😅

I was in for the long haul now. This was a good thing through. I helped lift a couple speakers out the trailer, then proceeded to watch Uriah, Devon, and a few other friend’s bust ass to set up stage and sound for the free 12 hour community event. This gave me a renewed appreciation to all the hard work that goes into any event. The best though, is seeing events like these coming together for the love. I had to pace myself however. So while the guys got set up in the almost almost 90⁰ heat, I opted to sit in the air conditioning and try some of this world famous chicken .

This was some amazing food. I went for the wings because I had been craving some ever since I signed up for this show. The fries were some of the best I’ve had, sprinkled with salt and their “medium hot powder”. I was told the medium level went into the habanero territory. I went with the mild+, which is right underneath medium. That was plenty! They don’t call it “Hot Boys Chicken” for nothing.

The chicken and the weather were not the only things hot. Music started promptly at 2, with Little Town going hard. Jackola did his thing, and did it well! Sweater Disco absolutly crushing his set while bopping non-stop in the now 90⁰ heat. Unbelievable! We were officially off to the races, as crowds gathered to enjoy the vibe, take in some sun, and get some chicken.

At this point our friend Pheobe from Agressivley Positive Media had joined me and I need to give a shout out to her for helping me get some these photos and videos. The mood of the party was festive as Nick Samaro and John Larner played out their sets with out missing a beat. John throwing down some ear pleasing classic. The temps were off the charts but thankfully patrons had lots of shade to chill as everyone continued to enjoy the music.

Gettoblaster came out to imeadiate fanfare and not to far into the set, threw down some sick scratch routines before Missy came in and made her DJ debut behind the decks. The team worked together to lay down and unforgettable set.

Uriah G continues to bring heat, with some of his signature tracks being thrown down with the upmost professionalism. Ending his set with with his yet to be released tune that features Snoop Dogg, which has become a staple in all of his set this year.

That brings me to Berk Visual, who is a world renowned graffiti & tattoo artist. He also the owner of The World Famous Hot Boys establishment. He gas done all the artwork and design in all the restaurants. His set was the highlight for myself, given that I heard a good 20 minutes of break beats. We got to link you to his Instagram.

Give him a follow, he’s out there doing great things. We also can’t forget JYNX coming out and representing Dirty Byrd Records and laying down a killer set as well. The party was moved inside the restaurant after that, as Devon, Matt Porter, and Myself played out our sets to close up the night. We appreciate everyone that came together to make this event happens. I personally really loved being out in the open, and in a space that didn’t feel like a club. Just people hanging on the block, enjoying the music and the vibes. It was an absolute honor to be a part of a party filled with such amazing talent and roots to Indianapolis’ dance culture.
