This is the perfect way to get geared up for Desert Hearts takeover at Invy Nightclub in downtown Indianapolis in less than 2 weeks! Along with Lee Reynolds, the club’s decks will also be blessed with founding members Mikey Lion, Marbs, and Porky. It’s also worth noting, this show is my official birthday party this year. This mix is packed with over 2 and a half hours of mostly funky and jackin’ house grooves. I heard more than a few nostalgic anthems that had been produced in ever new and changing ways. Lee Reynolds is known for taking his listeners on epic journeys, and this set is no different. It was also really dope to hear some breakbeat and more garage sounding basslines on some of these tracks in Lee’s performance. The energy gets brought down here and there with some slightly minimal stuff, but those “breathers” do not last very long before Reynolds pumps the energy back up. This is an fantastically fun mix that is sure to be a gem amongst the Graveyard Radio library.
Some of you are probably familiar with the fact that Lee was legendary in the 1980’s BMX scene. About 3 months ago, Lee was on The Union Tapes Podcast where in the 2 hour conversation, he gave some amazing insight into that part of his career, along with a little how he came into his transition to dance music.
